A Public Disgrace
After ‘The Garden of Love by William Blake’
I went to the library I love
And saw what I never had seen:
A notice was pinned to the wood
Where the opening times should have been
And the doors of the library were shut
And ‘CLOSED’ written over the door;
So I peered at the script on the notice
And frowned at the news that it bore.
‘This library will close every Friday.’
Carnegie must weep up above
To see how the poor once again must be kept
From reading the books that they love.
Cardiff Council closes Cathays Library on Fridays from 1st April 2013
